How I got from Merle Hay Road to Annabelle's Rocky Road.

Killing time until Big Lots! on Merle Hay Road opened, I popped into Northern Tool + Equipment next door to peruse the bric-a-brac and came across Annabelle's Rocky Road on the shelves.

Having tried Annabelle's before [see blog review] I was game to give this classic candy bar a go.

The Rocky Road consists of a bar of marshmallow with bits of cashew on top, enrobed with a milk chocolate veneer. The marshmallow melts-in-your mouth after a few chews, letting the dark-tasting milk chocolate take center stage on your palate. The cashew bits, though not as plentiful as I would like, did add a nice salty crunch.

Northern Tool + Equipment also carried the dark chocolate and dark chocolate mint varieties of Rocky Road along with milk chocolate. I'm definitely game at trying the Dark Chocolate Mint the next time I go to idly browse at Haymarket Square.

Check out this YouTube video on the history of the Annabelle Candy Company and how the Rocky Road is made.
