Confluence Brewing Company may only be just a brewery and a tap room with no food other than seasoned mini-pretzels, but their IPAs are not to be taken lightly. The Des Moines IPA (above, second from right) is excellent and my favorite of their flagship beers. Among Confluence's recent limited brews the Thomas Beck Black IPA also exhibits a hoppy appeal though less bitter than the DSM IPA. The finish comes off drier as well, which is surprising for such a darkly colored brew (as seen below, on the right).
