Djonuts are available Tuesday through Sunday at Capes Kafé, located inside the Des Moines Social Club at Ninth and Mulberry, and also at the Saturday morning Downtown Des Moines Farmers' Market that runs from May through October.

Boston Creme are delightful. Creamy vanilla pudding center is spot on.

Madagascar Vanilla. Vanilla cake enrobed in vanilla frosting. Simple but special.

Chocolate Caramel Heath. Pretty rich flavor.

It takes a super donut to impress a Superman. Mexican Chocolate offers a tingle of cayenne that contrasts against the the dark chocolate of the doughnut, and the cinnamon/sugar dusting excites the palate.

I inhaled some powdered sugar from this doughnut, and launched a chunk about six feet. Koff, koff… At least I had some coffee to wash down the embarrassment.

Buck Naked Lemon. So good I ate the last two. Lemon and vanilla extracts, plus lemon zest. Smooth lemon flavor.
