On recent
visits to Fuzzy's Taco Shop I opted out of breakfast
fare and tried a burrito with ground beef, left, that was a
little wan on flavor. I also revisited the 'Latin-fried'
potatoes, center, this time in a burrito with egg, cheese, and
chorizo. Still not a fan. Right, Simply
Heinz mayonnaise is revolting! I've had several
packets and they all have an overbearing mustard flavor. Plain Heinz
like you see in the massive squirt jugs at the Iowa State Fair
doesn't taste like this.

Biscuits
and gravy smothered hash browns topped with eggs at PerKup Cafe
in West Des Moines, left. Sadly this is not the same dish that I
raved over in 2012 at PerKup's original
location in Urbandale, right.

A few
initial chunky pieces of sausage in the gravy soon gave way to
smaller bits. Hash browns were fairly standard for the frozen
variety. Biscuits were fine, more comparable to Home Plate Diner and Cozy Cafe than Malo or Local Yocals
farmHouse. PerKup did impress us that morning with blistering
fast service and personable staff.
