Serving up Mexican cuisine to Las Vegans for over 30 years, Doña Maria’s specializes in tamales. Tamales for Christmas meals is holiday tradition in these parts. For take out alone, Doña Maria's two locations make well over 7,000 pounds of tamales the week prior to Christmas day.
This pot-full from my holiday feed came from their Summerlin location on Tenaya. Pictured are chicken tamales with a spicy green sauce in the front, with Monterey Jack and green chile tamales in a mild red sauce taking up the rear.
Doña Maria’s also serves up pork tamales in red sauce and dessert tamales with pineapple and raisins. As for the aforementioned cheese tamales, only a big holiday feed keeps me from loading up on them. Savory and filing, flavorful but not too spicy.
