Going for the Bacon Gusto!

Recently a lot of people attended the overpriced, factory-farm sponsored Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival to clamor about, standing in lines awaiting food samples that had half-a-chance of running out in the first hour.

I opted for a visit to The Cheese Shop of Des Moines for a delicious, unfettered nosh [see blog post]. That said, the next day I wandered over to Gusto Pizza for their Bacon Resurrection Brunch. Without all the hype (okay, some Twitter posts) I sat down for endless Bloody Marys (okay, I had just two) and a plethora of bacon casseroles and pizzas. Here’s the rundown.

The "Elvis" pizza: Peanut butter, banana, mozzarella, bacon and honey.

Pizza with bacon gravy, bacon, egg, green bell peppers, tomato and onion.

Egg casserole with bacon and cheddar.

Pizza with bacon gravy, biscuits, mozzarella and bacon.

Egg casserole with bacon, spinach, tomato, onion and asiago.

French toast casserole with bacon.

Fruit salad with bacon honey.
