Skeleton pirates and Scooby-Doo villains roam the yard haunt at Zombie Hollow.

UPDATE: Due to rain, Zombie Hollow will not open on Friday, Oct. 23, but is still scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 24, along with next Friday and Saturday, Oct. 30 and 31.

Zombie Hollow is a 'yard haunt' at 3109 Pine Circle in Urbandale, held every year around Halloween. With handcrafted props and special effects, the centerpiece of Zombie Hollow's backyard diorama is a pirate ship with an animatronic skeleton crew, featruing the sights and sounds of pirate battle.

Zombie Hollow is a 'merry not scary' event that offers fun for all ages, and admission is free. Free will donations to the Sentinels of Freedom Scholorship Foundation are welcome. Sentinels of Freedom is a charity organization that provides "two-to-four year multi-faceted scholarships to severely wounded post-9/11 veterans who pursue higher education after transitioning from the military."

Avast! Skeleton pirates at Zombie Hollow.

Zombie Hollow is scheduled this year for the evenings of October 23, 24, 30, and 31, from 7:30 to 10 p.m. More on Zombie Hollow can be found on their Facebook page.
