ChuChu Donuts, I choose you!

ChuChu Donuts is the latest doughnut shop to open in the Metro, having been open at 106 S.W. State St., Suite 101 in Ankeny since June of this year. Owner KimLang Chu specializes in superbly light and fluffy raised doughnuts, but also offers cake-variety doughnuts, kolaches, croissants, and an apple fritter worthy of comparison to Donut Hut on Douglas. ChuChu's hours accommodate a doughnut fix any day of the week, opening 5 a.m. Monday through Saturday, and at 6 a.m. on Sunday, with doors closing all days at 1 p.m.

Doughnuts aplenty, in particular the raised varieties, at ChuChu Donuts.

Chocolate cake doughnut. Squat in size, moist and dense, rich in flavor.

Maple bacon Long John. Superb in aroma, taste, and texture. Sweet and savory in harmony.

Darn fine apple fritter. Crisp exterior, moist and flavorful inside. Also in blueberry!

Savory breakfast croissant filled with ham, sausage, cheddar, and jalapeΓ±o.

A tasty lagniappe: raised doughnut holes. Bet'cha can't eat just a dozen.

Blueberry fruit twists.
